The post today will showcased another residential renovation project by PLUS Interior Design. The project is located at Varsity Park Condominium. This is a live project (meaning the renovation is in progress at this very moment) and I will be updating on the progress of the renovation every 2 weeks.
For many of the showcased projects in Vincent Interior Blog, all of them needed many parties’ approval before the renovation projects can be posted. Firstly which is the Interior Designer in charge of the project, secondly is the Interior Design Company and lastly, which is the most important of all, the homeowners. Therefore, I really appreciate Mr W. for his kindness to allow us to showcase his home renovation.
For a start, I will show you the documentation of this Varsity Park Condominium renovation. If you are the first time reader of my blog or new to renovation, you might not have any idea what I am talking about. In a renovation project, there are usually a few documents (we can also call it paperwork) that the Interior Designer will provide. The documents is to let the homeowners know what they will be getting for their money and to reduce or minimised any dispute caused by discrepancy. Different Interior Design companies have different set of standard documentation. Do ask your Interior Designer about it before you sign on the dotted line. They should have samples available which will give you an idea of what you will be getting.
Below are some of the documentations provided by PLUS Interior Design:
Floor plan
What is the purposes of the floor plan and what it means to you as homeowner? You need the proposed floor plan from your Interior Designer so that you will know the estimated measurement of your renovation works and the orientation of your home after renovation. The floor plan is also very useful when it comes to accessories, electronics and furniture purchases. At least you will know what to buy and the size to buy. You will usually get the floor plan from the Interior Designer before signing of contract.
Quotation
As you can see in the above, quotation is a very detailed piece of documentation. Every single details is included in the quotation. A piece of advise for homeowner: If it is not stated in the quotation, it is not included! Unwritten promises is the usual culprit for conflict. Do ask your Interior Designer about all the other charges or cost that are not stated in the quotation or contract. Do also try to understand every single statement in the quotation. This will help you know what and why you are paying.
Perspectives
Living room

Kitchen

Study table

Bathroom

Perspectives is always my favourite part. This is the part where a lot of work and money is spent on. Every pieces of perspective is unique and reused is usually not possible. This is because different homeowners have different requirements, favourite colour and style. In addition to that, most house or apartments are usually different in shape and sizes. The perspectives gives homeowners a very realistic preview of the end product especially the carpentry works. With the perspectives, homeowners will at least know what to expect and make necessary changes before the actual carpentry installation is done. Perspectives is usually given to the homeowners after the contract is signed.
